California DFPI & Early Detection: Report Cybersecurity Incidents

To support timely and effective responses to cybersecurity threats, the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) now encourages licensees to promptly report certain cyber incidents.

Early detection and reporting are critical to reducing harm and strengthening security — and you can learn when and how to report a cyber incident, as well as access the DFPI’s new reporting form.

The growing sophistication, complexity and impacts of cybersecurity threats makes timely incident reporting critically important. Early detection and prompt notification are essential to mitigate potential harm and enhance overall security.

The DFPI has developed a cybersecurity incident report to ensure that we are alerted at the earliest stage possible, enabling a swift response and containment measures. The goal is to strengthen defenses, protect assets, data, and stakeholders against these evolving cyber risks.
