Credit union leaders and nonprofit organizations serving the Central Valley community came together Thursday for the inaugural Advancing Communities Together (ACT) event — an opportunity to build relationships, identify community needs, and explore new ways to work together.
The room brought together organizations representing healthcare, education, small business and workforce development, youth services, and other vital community resources. Representatives from Travis Credit Union, Noble Credit Union, Golden 1 Credit Union, Educational Employees Credit Union, Valley Strong Credit Union, Valley First Credit Union, Self-Help Federal Credit Union, Upward Credit Union, and Modesto’s First Federal Credit Union had the opportunity to hear directly from community leaders about the people they serve, the challenges they face, and the resources that could help expand their impact.
More importantly, the event was about making meaningful connections. By learning about each organization’s needs, California’s credit unions could help connect nonprofits with credit unions that specialize in the services and resources best suited to support their work.
The conversation also provided an opportunity to demonstrate the credit union difference. While many attendees arrived familiar with credit unions, they left with a deeper understanding of the cooperative, member-owned model and the unique role credit unions can play as community partners.
Advancing Communities Together is relationship-building in action — connecting organizations doing great work with credit unions that share their commitment to strengthening the communities they serve.
