Banking Chair Grayson Has Productive Conversation with CUs

This week, the Sacramento Valley Credit Union Network hosted an informative networking event featuring California State Senator Tim Grayson, chair of the Senate Banking and Financial Institutions Committee.

Approximately 30 credit union leaders joined a productive conversation about building trust in financial institutions, addressing unintended policy consequences, establishing appropriate guardrails for artificial intelligence, and advancing effective fraud-prevention reforms.

Grayson emphasized the vital role credit unions play in strengthening local communities and encouraged attendees to help shape policy by engaging on bills, getting to know their legislators, and sharing personal success stories.

The event provided a valuable opportunity for collaboration, education, and meaningful dialogue between credit union leaders and policymakers.

California’s Credit Unions Policy Advocate Emily Udell, Policy Advocate Eileen Ricker, Director of Grassroots Advocacy Paige Haskin, and Naomi Padron (contract lobbyist for the league) provided an overview of key legislative and regulatory developments affecting credit unions.

The team also highlighted opportunities for industry engagement in advocacy efforts, including signing up for Connect for the Cause and attending future League events.
