California Assemblymember Blanca Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) recently hosted her first annual First-Time Homebuyer Workshop, bringing together local and state experts to help community members navigate the complexities of purchasing a home.
The event, held in Baldwin Park, aimed to empower residents with the knowledge and tools needed to achieve homeownership and build generational wealth.
The workshop featured a panel of experts, including representatives from Rize Credit Union, the California Housing Finance Agency, and local realtor Erik Pena. Los Angeles County Assessor Jeff Prang was also in attendance.
The sessions provided valuable information on a variety of topics, from financial readiness and understanding mortgage options to state programs designed to assist first-time buyers.
A representative from Rize Credit Union spoke on the importance of community partnerships, highlighting how events like this allow local leaders to see the positive impact credit unions are making in their districts.
The credit union also noted a special connection to the event: a young woman who received a scholarship from the Rize Credit Union’s non-profit organization is now interning with Rubio’s office.
Rubio emphasized that homeownership is an important pathway to financial stability and creating stronger communities. She expressed her gratitude to the panelists and attendees, saying the workshop’s success has inspired her to host similar events in the future.
By providing these resources, Rubio and Rize Credit Union are aiming to make homeownership more accessible for all constituents in the Assembly district.
