Children’s Health Care, Animal Rescues, and Financial Wellness

San Diego County Credit Union (SDCCU) is supporting the community throughout the holiday season, with a focus on both financial literacy and philanthropic efforts for children and animals.

Rady Children’s Giveathon

SDCCU’s latest philanthropic effort is the upcoming Rady Children’s Giveathon, which the credit union is proud to sponsor for the third consecutive year in partnership with iHeartMedia San Diego. The Giveathon is scheduled to begin on December 9 and will run through December 10.

Team SDCCU will be on-site at the SDCCU Live Studio, answering phones during the dedicated SDCCU Giving Hour on Tuesday, December 9, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

“SDCCU is proud to sponsor the Rady Children’s Giveathon again this year,” said Teresa Campbell, CEO of San Diego County Credit Union. “Every donation helps support the incredible work at Rady Children’s Hospital and their ongoing efforts to provide children state-of-the-art patient care and support to their families.”

Rady Children’s Hospital is the largest children’s hospital on the West Coast and the only San Diego-area hospital dedicated exclusively to pediatric healthcare. The hospital recently been ranked among the 2025-2026 top 10 children’s hospitals nationwide by U.S. News & World Report.

Successful ‘Presents for Paws’ Drive

SDCCU also just concluded its 14th consecutive “Presents for Paws” campaign, a special holiday fundraising effort that collected monetary donations through the end of November.

The campaign’s goal was to raise $10,000 this holiday season for beneficiaries, including the San Diego Humane Society (San Diego County), Animal Friends of the Valleys (Riverside County), and the Home Free Animal Rescue & Sanctuary (Orange County).

This long-running effort supported the local organizations in providing care, comfort, and second chances for animals in need. Monetary contributions were accepted both in-branch and online.

Last holiday season, the Presents for Paws donation efforts collected more than $46,000 for shelter and rescue animals in need.

Review of Financial Wellness Webinars

Earlier in the season, SDCCU hosted a series of free community webinars to help the public navigate financial challenges during the holidays. SDCCU announced the “Thriving Through the Holidays” webinar, which was presented by financial wellness professionals on November 5 and November 12.

The goal was to inspire the community to take creative and practical steps to maintain their budgets and enjoy the season without the added worry of financial stress. The sessions offered simple money-saving ideas, creative ways to help cut costs, and tips to celebrate a fun and festive season no matter the budget.

Although free, reservations were required, which the public could secured online. The webinar was part of Financial Wellness Wednesdays, an ongoing program hosted by SDCCU to provide the community with free financial wellness information.
