Compass Community CU Helps Fight Back Against Cancer

Compass Community Credit Union members and staff recently stepped up to help make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.

Members were encouraged to stop by any Compass branch and make a $5 donation by purchasing a pink ribbon. Donors were encouraged to write down the name of an individual in honor by displaying the pink ribbons inside the branch. All proceeds were donated to the local American Cancer Society in Eureka.

Compass matched every donation made by members and staff, and a check for $1,000 was presented to LeeAnn Zeck, senior manager of the American Cancer Society of Eureka.

“On behalf of the American Cancer Society, we are so grateful to Compass Community Credit Union for their generous $1,000 donation,” Zeck said. “Their support helps us continue making a positive impact on our community and reminds us how powerful it is when local organizations come together to give back. Thank you for investing in our mission and the people we serve.”

Many credit union team members have been touched by cancer through family and friends, or even personal diagnosis, according to Ray Litchfield, CEO of Compass Community Credit Union.

“Compass is proud to stand behind the fight,” he said. “Together, we can honor those affected, support survivors, and work toward a future without breast cancer.”

The mission of the American Cancer Society is to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy, research, and patient support, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer. For more than 10 decades, the American Cancer Society has been dedicated to pursuing better outcomes for every cancer, every life.

Today, more people are surviving cancer than ever before, but there is still work to be done.
