Educational Employees Credit Union (EECU) recently met with Rep. Jim Costa to discuss expanding access to financial services throughout California’s 21st Congressional District, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
The meeting followed earlier discussions at the 2026 Governmental Affairs Conference in March, serving as an opportunity to continue advocacy efforts and highlight the critical role credit unions play in strengthening local economies.
EECU leaders highlighted the credit union’s financial wellness initiatives, which provide education and resources to help individuals and families build long-term stability. They also shared how EECU’s Mobile Branch brings essential banking services directly to communities with limited access, helping unbanked and underbanked residents open accounts and connect to low-cost financial services.
“Access to safe, affordable financial services is critical to the success of our communities,” said Elizabeth Dooley, president and CEO of EECU. “We appreciate the opportunity to work with Congressman Costa to expand that access, especially in rural areas where services are limited, and to continue investing in the financial well-being of the families we serve.”
The discussion also emphasized EECU’s broader community work across the Central Valley, including its support for schools, nonprofit partnerships, and student grant program. In 2025, EECU supported more than 300 organizations, events, and programs.
As a not-for-profit cooperative owned by its more than 399,000 members, EECU remains committed to expanding access and supporting the diverse communities throughout California’s 21st Congressional District and beyond.
