Kinecta Federal Credit Union celebrated its 17th Annual Backpack Distribution Day on August 8, bringing employees, community partners, and local families together in Watts to help students start the school year ready to succeed.
Throughout the year, Kinecta employees raise funds to purchase backpacks and school supplies for families identified through local nonprofit partners. This year, Kinecta’s Community Relations team and employee Volunteer Corps helped distribute nearly 800 fully stocked backpacks, while families also enjoyed lunch and treats from Kinecta’s ice cream truck.
California State Assembly candidate Ayanna Davis, who is running to represent Watts and surrounding communities, joined the event and helped distribute backpacks to local families, getting an opportunity to see firsthand how credit unions invest in the communities they serve and to connect directly with local constituents.
Events like this demonstrate the credit union difference in action: people helping people, building community partnerships, and creating opportunities for families to thrive.
They also provide valuable opportunities to build relationships with community leaders and demonstrate how credit unions can serve as trusted partners in addressing local needs.
Thank you to Kinecta’s Community Relations team, Volunteer Corps, employees, and nonprofit partners for another successful year of giving back.
