NCUA Raises ‘America 250’ Flag to Commemorate Anniversary

The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) proudly joined communities and organizations across the nation in celebrating the 250th anniversary of American independence by raising the America250 flag during a special ceremony at the agency’s central office in Alexandria, Virginia.

Agency leadership and staff gathered to mark this historic occasion and recognize the enduring ideals of freedom, democracy, service, and civic engagement that have shaped the nation for nearly two and a half centuries. Staff watched as NCUA Chair Kyle Hauptman raised the flag and then joined him in holding an America250 commemorative flag modeled after the original thirteen stars and stripes United States flag.

Additionally, Eddie Garcia, CEO of Thinkwise Credit Union, and Shannon Workman, executive director of financial education programs for SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union, were honored to participate in the “Building Financial Literacy for the Next Generation of Member Owners” roundtable discussion.

“Raising the America 250 flag is an opportunity to recognize our nation’s remarkable journey and the values that continue to unite us,” Hauptman said. “As we approach America’s 250th birthday, let’s remember the many sacrifices and achievements of those who came before us to make this great American experiment a reality. We are proud to celebrate America250 and serve this great nation”.
