As the holiday season winds down, Nuvision Federal Credit Union has completed a December defined by community connection, philanthropic giving, and rewards for its members.
Through filled toy bins in local branches and thousands of dollars in cash prizes deposited into member accounts, the December of Giving and the Added Advantage Holiday Cash Giveaway worked in tandem to support families across Southern California, the Bay Area, Alaska, Wyoming, and Arizona.
A major highlight of the season was the Added Advantage Holiday Cash Giveaway, which awarded thousands in cash prizes to provide members with financial flexibility for holiday expenses.
The program reached its peak on December 17 during the grand prize drawing. Veonny R., a member from the Monterey Park, CA branch, was awarded the $3,000 grand prize. Because she followed Nuvision on social media, the prize was instantly doubled to $6,000.
This “social media double” incentive was a recurring feature throughout the month, increasing $250 prizes to $500 and $1,000 prizes to $2,000 for numerous weekly winners who maintained an online connection with the credit union.
A core component of this year’s giveaway ensured that every member’s win generated support for local communities. For every prize awarded, Nuvision donated $500 in the winner’s name to regional charities addressing hunger, housing insecurity, and financial hardship.
These donations supported several vital organizations across the credit union’s geographic footprint, including:
Beyond financial contributions, Nuvision personnel participated in several long-standing community traditions across multiple states.
In Southern California, volunteers participated for the fourth consecutive year in the Huntington Beach Shop With a Cop event on December 10, followed by the Costa Mesa event on December 17. The initiatives focused on building relationships between local youth and law enforcement through shared meals and gift-wrapping sessions.
In Alaska, Nuvision marked its fourth year of partnership with Shop With a Hero, an event that brought 52 children together for a day of community connection. The credit union also supported the Lisa Whitmore Shop with a Cop & Firefighter event for the sixth year. During the event, Nuvision CEO Roger Ballard joined volunteers in wrapping presents for families, many of whom were transitioning from local shelters. Every participating child received a $100 gift card to select their own holiday gifts.
In Cheyenne, Wyoming, Nuvision expanded its reach by supporting the local Shop With a Cop event for the first time with a $1,500 contribution and direct assistance from the local branch team.
Throughout the month, Nuvision branches served as collection points for the NuvisionCares Holiday Toy Drive, yielding results across the Western United States:
The combined efforts of the Added Advantage giveaway and the various Shop with a Cop traditions were designed to ensure that community members felt supported during the holiday season.
Reflecting on the month’s initiatives, Nuvision representatives noted the scale of what was accomplished through the collaboration of teams, members, and community partners. The organization noted that the high level of member engagement allowed the impact of these programs to extend far beyond individual households, providing essential support to families across all served regions.
