Nevada’s Credit Unions is pleased to present its 2025 End of Session Report, an overview of outcomes and engagement throughout the state’s 120-day session.
The 2025 Nevada Legislative Session, which concluded on June 3, saw 1,164 bills introduced and 606 passed. Nevada’s Credit Unions diligently monitored and engaged with legislation impacting financial literacy, coerced debt, medical debt, elder financial abuse, general banking, fintech, and artificial intelligence.
A challenging bill on interchange fees was also engaged, as well as successfully advocating for — and passed a bill to update — the law governing state-chartered credit unions.
Governor Joe Lombardo issued a record-breaking 87 vetoes, highlighting the tense political dynamics and need for legislative balance, especially given the state’s projected $350 million budget shortfall. These factors impacted many high-priority initiatives, such as affordable housing, film tax credits, and public safety.
Nevada’s Credit Unions’ leaders look forward to continue to monitor the political environment in Carson City and around the state on behalf of your credit union. Thank you for your support!
