Silver State Schools Credit Union (SSSCU) is now accepting applications for the 2026 People Over Profit (POP) Foundation Scholarships for Nevada high school seniors via a new electronic portal. Since 1989, the POP Foundation has awarded over $1.4 million in scholarships to outstanding Southern Nevada students pursuing higher education.
The POP Foundation Scholarship Program is composed of eight merit-based scholarships, one needs-based, and one reserved for a future educator, honoring students who demonstrate excellence in academics, extracurricular involvement, and community service. Each year, 10 recipients receive a renewable $2,000 scholarship for up to four years, totaling $8,000.
“The POP Foundation Scholarship Program is more than financial assistance — it’s an investment in potential,” said Scott Arkills, CEO of Silver State Schools Credit Union. “We’re proud to stand behind Nevada’s students as they pursue higher education and create lasting positive change in our community.”
The program is open to SSSCU members or those who are in the process of becoming members and graduating from an accredited Nevada high school in 2026. All Nevada high school senior residents can join SSSCU, making them eligible for this scholarship. The 2026 application deadline is 11:59 p.m. PST on Friday, March 6, 2026.
Scholarships are paid out in $2,000 annual increments for a max scholarship award up to $8,000. The scholarships are renewable upon receipt of transcripts showing a maintained college grade point average of 3.0, and recipients are responsible for submitting documents to process scholarship renewals and have six years from award date to claim scholarships. The scholarship program is designed for Silver State Schools Credit Union members graduating from an accredited high school within the State of Nevada.
As the charitable arm of SSSCU, the POP Foundation strives to elevate the community by providing Southern Nevada students and educators with tools, resources, and access to build a better future. When members of the community donate to the People Over Profit Foundation, their financial support goes directly back to the community.
