RMJ Launches Redesigned Bite of Reality App with Modern Look

The RMJ Foundation today announced the launch of a redesigned Bite of Reality® App, delivering a more modern, intuitive, and engaging experience for students participating in the financial education program.

The updated app features a refreshed look and feel, streamlined navigation, and enhanced usability, making it easier for participants to engage with the real-world financial decision-making scenarios that have made Bite of Reality a trusted financial education tool for credit unions across the country. The redesign combines a contemporary user experience with the program’s proven educational framework, ensuring students can focus on building practical money management skills in a format that reflects how they interact with technology today.

This significant enhancement was made possible through the generous support of Visa, a longstanding advocate for financial education and economic empowerment. Visa’s investment in the Bite of Reality App underscores a shared commitment to helping young people build the confidence and knowledge needed to make informed financial decisions throughout their lives.

“Today’s students expect digital experiences that are intuitive, engaging, and relevant,” said Tena Lozano, executive director of the RMJ Foundation. “This redesigned app strengthens our ability to deliver impactful financial education experiences while remaining true to the mission of Bite of Reality. We are incredibly grateful to Visa for its partnership and leadership in helping us modernize this important resource and expand our ability to reach future generations with meaningful financial education.”

The redesigned Bite of Reality App upgrade was implemented across the entire Bite of Reality platform, including all 23 customized versions currently used by participating credit unions nationwide. The app is available for download through the Apple App Store and Google Play; however, it is designed for use exclusively during in-person Bite of Reality fairs hosted by credit unions.

The launch of the redesigned app reflects the RMJ Foundation’s ongoing commitment to continuously enhancing the Bite of Reality experience, ensuring that credit unions have access to innovative tools that make financial education more relevant, accessible, and impactful for the communities they serve.

The Richard Myles Johnson Foundation (RMJ), the state credit union foundation for California and Nevada, was established in 1958 as the California Filene Foundation. RMJ provides resources that make it easier for credit unions to deliver financial education in their communities. Through engaging, real-world experiences, Bite of Reality helps young people develop the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to make informed financial decisions and build a strong financial future.
