SDCCU Helps Raise $415K During Rady Children’s Giveathon

San Diego County Credit Union (SDCCU) recently partnered with iHeartMedia San Diego to help raise over $415,098 to support the efforts of Rady Children’s Hospital during the Rady Children’s Giveathon.

Funds generated from the campaign will be used to help Rady Children’s continue to provide state-of-the-art care and support to young patients and their families.

The two-day Giveathon allowed members of the community to give monetary donations online, via text message, or a phone call. Donors that called in during the SDCCU Giving Hour were able to speak with members of Team SDCCU to process their donations.

Meanwhile, locals tuned-in to their favorite iHeartMedia station — Star 94.1, Channel 93.3, 101.5 KGB, Rock 105.3, KOGO 600, San Diego Sports 760, JAM’N 95.7, and The Patriot 1360 — to hear stories of hope and healing from Rady Children’s patients and families. Stories were from “champions” like Enzo and Sofia.

Enzo was diagnosed with aplastic anemia — a serious condition in which bone marrow doesn’t produce enough new blood cells — when he was less than 2 years old. He needed five months of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, for which his older sister, Sofia, served as his donor. After a successful transplant and the care he received at Rady Children’s, Enzo is now an active 9-year-old.

SDCCU was proud to be a part of the local community having the opportunity to hear inspiring stories like his and donate to brighten futures for more kids braving childhood illness during the giveathon. The community’s generous support during this fundraising event helped deliver joy to every child spending their holidays at Rady Children’s.

“We are incredibly thankful to those in our community who offered generous donations to help Rady Children’s continue to offer exceptional care and support for those in their care,” said Teresa Campbell, CEO of SDCCU. “We are thrilled with the amount raised through the Rady Children’s Giveathon and know the tremendous impact it will make.”
