Last week, State Senate President Pro Tempore Monique Limón announced leadership positions and committee assignments for the remainder of the 2025-26 California Legislative Session.
Most changes will take effect on February 1, with the exception of budget committees and the Natural Resources Committee, which will take effect immediately.
The Senate Banking & Financial Institutions and Senate Judiciary committees remain largely unchanged. However, the Senate has established a new committee — Privacy, Digital Technologies, and Consumer Protection — which will be chaired by Senator Christopher Cabaldon (D–Yolo).
Two additional notable leadership changes include Senator Sabrina Cervantes (D–Riverside) being named chair of the Appropriations Committee and Senator John Laird being named chair of the Budget Committee.
